Assisted Living Concepts, ALC, the provider of housing to the elderly, was profiled by Tickermine this month after announcing a net income of $4.1 million this quarter compared with $4.7 million in the same quarter a year ago. 21 facilities were consulted for our survey. We asked about availability, whether there was a waiting list to get in, how much the services cost, whether this will go up and has occupancy changed from a year ago due to the housing market? Eight respondents or 38% said that no rooms are currently available. While 13 respondents, 62% said that less than 25% of rooms were open. Nine respondents or 43% reported having a waiting list of people trying to get in while 12 or 57% reported none. 13 respondents, so 62% said rooms cost between $50-$150 per day. Five people or 38% said rooms were over $151. Nine respondents or 43% of those polled expect the rates to go up even higher. Eleven or 57% think rates will stay the same. And while 6 respondents or 29% felt that inquiries into the rooms had slumped because of the housing market, most people, 15 or 71% said that interest in ALC hadn’t slowed at all.
