BBY - Housing Slump Slows Range-Top Oven Sales
In the first week of April Tickermine surveyed 26 Best Buy locations across the US regarding their sales of range-top ovens. Nearly 42% of those surveyed stated that the slump in housing sales has slowed range sales, while 58% reported no change. The best-selling brand was Whirlpool, with 70% of sales, split between two models—the 4.8 cu ft. self-cleaning stainless electric model (35%) and the self-cleaning gas range (35%). 30% cited the GE Smoothtop Electric range as their best-seller. 96% of respondents felt they had enough inventory of their best-sellers on hand. 35% stated that their store might offer discounts to reduce inventory, while 65% did not intend to discount.
