BBY - MayTag Ovens Lead at Best Buy, Brand Name Key
In TickerMine's March survey of oven sales at Best Buy we found that 35% of store employees reported that the Maytag 5.0 smooth top line of ovens was the top seller. The Whirlpool self cleaning gas ovens were seen as tops by 29% of respondents, while the Whirlpool electric ovens were seen as number one by 17% of respondents. The GE Electric / Gas dual fuel over range was seen as the best seller by another 17% of respondents. Best Buy employees identified brand name recognition as the key factor in consumers purchasing decisions (42%) followed by price (38%) and specific over capabilities (21%). 44% of respondents believed that slowness in the housing market was hurting oven sales while 66% did not. 74% of respondents did not see any upcoming sales to "reduce extra inventory of oven ranges" while 26% did.
