BBY - Maytag Self-Cleaning Smoothtop is Best-Selling Range at Best Buy
TickerMine surveyed Best Buy stores across the country about the sales of home ranges, and found that the best-selling range is the GE Smoothtop electric , named by 32% of stores surveyed. The stores indicated that this item is selling well due to price (48%), brand recognition (35%) and the range's capacity (16%).The Maytag (5.0 cubic feet) self-cleaning smoothtop was next, at 26%, followed by the Whirlpool (4.8 cubic feet) self-cleaning stainless electric (23%). Ninety-seven percent of stores surveyed have sufficient stock to meet demand for their top-selling ranges. Just under half of respondents expect ranges to go on sale in the near future. Fifty-two percent of survey respondents said the housing slump is affecting range sales.
