CTRN - 58% of Citi Trends Stores Say Business is Stronger Than Last Year

TickerMine's poll of Citi Trends, a value-priced clothing store for women, men, and children, revealed that business is stronger than last year for 58% of store locations. An additional ten percent said business is very strong, while only 32% described business as average. When asked which brands represented the greatest amount of excess inventory, 29% of stores said Baby Phat and 29% said Rocawear. Rocawear was also named the top selling brand by 71% of stores, which may indicate that stores have excess inventory of the label only because they bought heavily in anticipation of its popularity. Opinions varied as to whether the weak economy is causing an increase in business. Twenty-nine percent of Citi Trends stores said yes, the weak economy is helping their sales. An equal proportion of stores indicated that the economy is not boosting sales. Thirty-two percent weren't sure.
